Welcome to Foundation for Environmental and Economic Progress

Founded in 1989, the Foundation for Environmental and Economic Progress (FEEP) is a national coalition of large landholding companies founded to help advance balanced Federal environmental law and policy regarding the use and development of private land. The Foundation has a specific interest in Federal programs that affect land use, including wetlands and endangered species policy. Its members are planned community developers, as well as companies that engage in forestry, mining, and agriculture.
Foundation members own significant amounts of land in 44 States and are deeply committed to environmental stewardship of their land. FEEP members regularly develop master-planned communities that preserve open space and environmental values. Member companies are dedicated to permanent conservation and have partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in private and public conservation initiatives, such as the development of habitat conservation plans ("HPCs") under the Endangered Species Act, to protect hundreds of thousands of acres of sensitive species habitat, while still allowing the companies a reasonable and beneficial use of their land.
In fact, many Foundation members have earned awards for cutting-edge environmentally sensitive projects. Foundation members view their land holdings as a precious and nonrenewable resource and as an asset not to be sold or squandered for short-term gain, but as a long-term investment to be held and utilized in a way that benefits both the companies and those who choose to live, work, and grow on the land. Through thoughtful, deliberate, and prudent management of its properties, FEEP members develop communities that earn the respect of both current and future generations.
